Nice review. Just one correction, however – Knebworth ’79 wasn’t Zeppelin’s last show. Zeppelin did tour Europe in the early summer of 1980, and were rehearsing for a US tour in September of that year when Bonham died.

Also, one question I can’t seem to find an answer to – what’s the meaning behind “Big Log” as the song’s title? It seems like a strange title for a very beautiful, atmospheric song.

Thanks for the corrrection, Chris. As for the Plant’s song titles, I’ve given up on trying to decipher the meaning, especially on his first three solo albums.

I always thought big log was a metaphor for the difficulties one would face when trying to patch up a relationship after something goes wrong. Like it would be so easy to get my car from here to there except for the big log laying across the way.

Big Log was a reference to the written logs that truck drivers keep of the distances they travel.

I’ve always wondered, what exactly is that white “smear” in front of Robert on the cover? It doesn’t look complete enough 2 be a passing car.

It’s a representation of the moment (passing)
